Fitness Centers

Aviano Air Base is home to the Wyvern Readiness Center and Dragon Fitness Center where there is something for everyone! We offer group fitness classes, intramural sports, Crossfit, and more. Our goal is to provide quality programs and services to help individuals stay on top of their fitness goals.

Dragon Fitness Center

The Dragon Fitness Center is a state of the art fitness facility, 31,000 sq ft and 15 employees. The facility boasts over $150K in strength and cardio equipment operating 7 days a week, 90 hours weekly and services over 1,000 customers daily. The facility was recognized as USAFE’s 2012 Best Fitness & Sports Program and earned a 5-star rating, which is the Air Force’s highest fitness award. We offer 20 fitness classes a week.

What We Offer

Zumba

Zumba an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music.

Indoor Cycling

Indoor Cycling is a form of exercise focusing on endurance, strength and high intensity intervals. The stationary exercise bicycle with monitor shows the intensity level along with other useful information. Pedals offer the option for both normal and bike shoes. For cycling lovers who do not have enough time or affected by the weather, this is a great cardio exercise in a safety environment all year round.

Parent Child Area

Regulations:

  • Ages 5 and below
  • Maximum 10 children in the PCA
  • Parents must be in the room or on the cardio equipment that faces the PCA

Yoga

Yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.

Wyvern Fitness Center

The Wyvern provides a full up fitness experience for military members and dependents. The facility houses a multi-purpose mat room that can house martial arts and wrestling, cardio equipment, expanded functional fitness options, traditional weight training.

Cross Functional Fitness

Cross Functional Fitness is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time.

Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a self defense martial art developed from the original Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Based on grappling, ground fighting and submission holds, It focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground and maintain control. BJJ revolves around the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage and weight distribution.

Meet Andrea!

Andrea was born in Pordenone and is practicing martial arts since he was 15. He has been an athlete for several years in different martial arts disciplines, he has been part of the Judo and Karate Italian Teams. He is also Jiu Jitsu first-level black belt. Andrea studied in Europe, Brazil, and Japan. He has been teaching on base for more than a decade now, helping many kids to win several medals in Italian competitions

5K Route

The Fitness Staff would also like you to be aware of a 5K route which is also available for your usage! This 5K route (the blue route) starts next to the FAC and ends by the LVIS Gate. This 5K also includes the following stations along the route:

  • 🤸‍♂️ Stretch Station
  • 💪 Balance Steps
  • 💪 Assisted Row Push up
  • 🏋️‍♀️ Plyometrics
  • 🏋️ Pull up and Dips
  • 🏋️‍♀️ AB Crunch and Leg lifts

In order to complete this 5K, the runner must run there and back and complete the 5K stations.

There are 3 different stations around the track as well that can be utilized.

Around the Track the stations are:

  • Chest Back Press
  • Squat
  • Stepper

Meet Hebaallah!

Heba is a high-energy coach with a passion and love for both playing and teaching squash. She is a certified personal trainer and a corrective exercise and nutrition specialist. Always motivated, she continuously aims to inspire athletes to do their best. Heba specializes in developing a variety of clinics, drills, personalized lesson plans, and player development. She has over 18 years of active squash playing with more than 9 years of coaching. She is a professional player in both the United States and Egypt.

Francesca Costella

Francesca is a sport and wellness massage therapist since 2013, she is a holistic operator and beautician too. Her specialty is the deep tissue massage, but she’s often asked relaxing, hot stone and Californian massages as well. You should also try the plantar and face reflexology.
