Outdoor takes reservations in advance for all scheduled adventure trips. Reservations cannot be accepted over the phone; they must be made in person and paid in full.

Outdoor Recreation (ODR) supports the Aviano Air Base community with several key services:

Equipment rental operation
In-house maintenance shop for ski, and snowboard
Retail sales operation for winter ski and snowboard equipment
Operation of the summer seasonal base swimming pool and oversight of the skate park located in Freedom Park
Execution of a wide variety of outdoor adventure programs and instructional classes
Information and referral program where customers can obtain hiking trail maps and local brochure information on relevant sites

Horseback Riding Trip

Saturday, May 9th | $125

Two-hour horseback ride through scenic trails, a basic horsemanship introduction covering horse care and proper gear fitting, and round-trip transportation, for a seamless equestrian experience.

Requirements: Age 18+. Wear appropriate clothing for the event, including long sleeves or a light jacket, over-the-ankle boots, and durable pants such as jeans.

Canyoing Trip

Saturday, May 16th | $100

Trip Includes: Round-trip transportation, equipment and guided tour.
Notes: Canyoning is a sport that combines several outdoor sports like rock climbing, hiking, swimming, and repelling. Val Arzino Canyon is an ideal site, cut into bedrock forming a narrow gorge with numerous drops with sculpted walls and waterfalls.

Requirements: Age 8+. Must be able to swim short distances. Wear appropriate hiking clothes, trekking/hiking shoes. Bring a change of clothes and towel. Bring your own snacks, water and lunch.

Slovenia Rafting

Saturday, May 30th | $125

Trip Includes: Round trip transportation, 2-hour raft trip, class 3 rapids, professional guides and equipment.

Notes: Raft the stunning Soca River from Boka, passing Boka Waterfall and Trnovo along a 5-mile route.

Requirements: Age 12+. Bring swimwear, towel, extra shirt, sunscreen, water and snacks, lunch in Kobarid (pack or dine out).

Equipment Maintenance

ODR has qualified technicians on hand to do your equipment repairs. Let ODR be your place for all of your ski, and snowboard.

Ski and snowboard maintenance:

Wax – $10.00
Hand Wax – $20.00
Edge Sharpening – $5.00
Epoxy or P-Tex – $5.00-$20.00

Area D Reservations

Area D is a recreational area in between Areas F & 1. Featuring playing fields, a pavilion, indoor area and ample parking, it is the perfect place to reserve for your next event! Whether you’re hosting a squadron event, birthday party, field day, or other community activities, Area D has what you need.

Equipment Rental

Outdoor Recreation has a large verity of items available for you to rent. These items include inflatables, games, power equipment, ski & snowboard equipment, BBQ & camping equipment, water sport, costumes and much more.

Note: Ski or snowboard fittings will be started 30 minutes prior to facility closing
